Gross Foreign Exchange Reserves of Nepalese Financial Systems for Mid-Dec 2020 (Mangsir 2077) increased by 35.5% over the previous year. The level of reserve decreased over previous month for the first time in past 12 months. Based on the imports of first five months of current fiscal year, the foreign exchange holdings of the banking sector is sufficient to cover the prospective merchandise imports of 14.4 months, and merchandise and services imports of 13 months. The improvement is due to twin effect of increased remittance and decrease imports.
