Gross Foreign Exchange Reserves of Nepalese Financial Systems for as on Mid-June 2021 (Jesth 2078) increased by 4.5% over the previous year. However, the level of such reserve decreased marginally over previous month.

We apply foreign exchange reserves mainly for the import of merchandise and services and measure adequacy of such reserves accordingly. Therefore, based on the imports of first eleven months of current fiscal year, the forex reserves of the banking sector is sufficient to cover the prospective merchandise imports of 11.1 months, and merchandise and services imports of 10.1 months.
