Export of Major Commodities from Nepal ~ Mid Jan 2020. Source Nepal Rastra Bank

Total export of major commodities increased in first six months of FY 2019/020 by 56.9% over previous year mainly due to increase in export of palm oil where value addition in Nepal is not significant. If we exclude palm oil data, growth in export of major commodities will be marginal (1.1%). As the India has decided to restrict import of palm oil, this scenario will be likely in near future. Export of cardamom increased significantly during the same period. However, export of ready-made garments, juice and pashmina went down significantly.
