Are we attracting top spenders?

As reported by United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), exports generated by international tourism reached USD 1.7 trillion in 2018. China, the world’s top spender reported USD 277 billion in international tourism expenditure in 2018 representing 16% share in global market. Top 5 countries together represented 38% share in global market.

Nepal has not been able to attract tourists in significant numbers from all top 5 spending countries.  Amongst the top 5 spenders, France and Germany are not in scene. Also, world’s top 2 spenders represent second and third position in our tourist mix. Therefore, Nepal should seriously think in attracting top spenders and improve its tourist mix.
